after six years of happy shooting, i am finally retiring my loyal sidekick: my 1M, 8x optical, pivoting viewfinder casio qv-8000sx. the number of pictures i've taken with that camera is in the thousands. the number of memories i have saved is innumerable. you have been a great pal and a loyal servant through the years.
[LP needle scratches off of the record]
oh, cry me a river... look who's rolled into town! after waiting and saving and blowing hot air for the past 2 years, papa's got a brand new bag:
* canon 20d
* 18-55 f4 EFS with UV filter
* 70-200 f4 EF L with UV filter
* 1G 75x/63x CF
* two BP-511a batteries
to boot, through stingy shopping and the gift of time, i saved FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS off of the total outfit (canon mfr rebates, dell.com limited-use coupons, amazon.com promotions, and getting in line at precision camera at 6am and waiting for four hours so that i could by one of five CF cards marked down from $110 to $40).
the old, the new, and the results:
